Get Ready For Action - Digital India Roars

"Public documentation can bring the revolution India needed to transform for good". -Kuldeep Dhyani, New Delhi, India, 14th June2020.

POWER IS IN OUR HANDS

Telecom Industry has become a dirty pot where getting a resolution is like impossible for the consumers.

If I will say that only a telecom operator can resolve your issues in India. Indian consumer will probably laugh at me and will think that I know nothing about the partial behaviour of Indian telecom operators towards consumers.

What if I told you that the Indian department of telecommunication has no stake in providing resolution to the consumer or TRAI doesn't deal with individuals complaint.

All facts above are hard to deny!

So now you must be wondering that how your telecom service provider who is paining you will provide a resolution to you. By the end of this article, you will be enabled to build a solid ground to hit them on the chin with a powerful blow to get your right to resolution.

Hoping for a resolution from Indian telecom is like dreaming with your eyes open.

Isn't it!

But the irony is that our policymakers are daydreaming when it comes to consumer rights & the entire grievance system is designed to deceive the Indian consumer.

Why there is a problem?

If you are here are seeking solutions to your telecom problems then you must first understand the problem. It is hard to get resolution when the telecom companies run by operators are not willing to help consumers. As there is no solid framework to safeguard the consumer from the hollow commitments by the telecom operators is one of the prime reason that the problem prevails.

What does our research data say?

There are different types of problems than how to make a fit all solution. In the past 20 days, Digital India Roars has retweeted 16000+ tweets which are social media response on service by consumers. One of the other surveys which we conduct periodically tells us that every month there are 50000+ tweets happens which mentions the Indian telecom industry.

There are loopholes in the system!

Even though all this is happening, no one is paying attention to the problem which you are facing. The reason is unaccountability, which prevails in the system & has made it rigid to transform. People do try raising their voices, but they end up sounding like an echo as the problem is too big to handle by an individual. As grievance processes are long & loopy, they also lose hope that their problem will get resolved.

So what to do?

First, let us understand the structure of different grievance mechanisms.

Below "chart" describes different authorities and order in which you should reach out to them.

Some of you must have already tried your hands to reach some of them for resolution. I did not need to explain the outcome as you are still seeking it.

But we are going to tell you how "WE" can make it actually working for you. If you follow some step by step instructions, together we will be able to tame the beastly behaviour of the telecom operators. "WE" here represents all who are reading this article to take action. Using these steps we can participate to bring the transformation.

We are all human, we do something when we feel the need or pain. We are in pain & that is why we are trying to find the solution.

Step 1: Document your actions. (Public Documentation)

So what do we mean by "document your actions"?

Always keep track of your date, time & place whenever you reach out for help from authorities. To set up accountability you will have to collect sizable pieces of evidence against all who are not doing justice with their duties.

Step 2: Make your tools ready for action.

Mobile in your hand is your weapon which once enabled with the right utilities will help you document your actions.

Below is the list of essential tools which you will have to keep handy:

a. Camera

b. Mobile Screen Recorder

c. Call Recorder

Step 3: Be the hero of your own film.

Screen record while doing complaints record audio of the conversation between authorities.

For start, you should reach out to your service providers customer care & register a complaint. Then further reach out to nodal & appellate authorities.

Also, keep in mind that while complaining express how you feel, because human sentiments are the most valuable which systems have been ignoring.

Do create a selfy video of you whenever you write a complaint to the authorities. Be expressive about the feedback & what do you expect from the respective authorities.

This video will help to boost your confidence on "How to make a Selfy Video":

Most important of all is "don't be shy" rather "be confident" as you are among the few who really want a better system than the present one.

Step 4: Save your data.

Create a google drive to save the documents/files which will be created. This way they will be safe on the cloud drive & can be accessed or shared when required.

Step 5: Always give feedback.

Feedbacks!

We think of them as a waste of time but every time you give feedback it creates a lot of difference. While complaint defines your problem feedback expresses your pain. When we will be climbing up the ladder justice will be done on the basis of pain caused to you by the poor system not just because of the problem.

Step 6: Keep yourself motivated.

If you really desire a robust ecosystem, you have to have patience. Understand you are here for the long run & to ensure that they listen to you. As this industry got millions of users like you they hardly care what you have to say.

Digital India Roars will keep on retweeting concerns for Indian telecom consumers. You are welcomed to participate by liking, retweeting or commenting on tweets of other users. It will help & boost the morale of others who are deprived of what they deserve.

Remember that you are among the one who takes stand for what is right.

Step 7: Do update us on progress.

If we join hands we are alone no more & together we can concur any problem!

Keep on updating us on twitter regarding your journey as we will be happy to see you raising for your rights. We can help you provide more suggestions on how you can be more vocal about your case. Share your videos & evidence links on a google drive link with us we will create collective documentary & feature you in the bigger movement.

Step 8: Sharing is Caring.

Last but not least, do share this link to help others because "sharing is caring".

It about making "I" strong for "we".

Keep Roaring!

Digital India Roars.
